Mt. Pleasant Set to Host 38th Annual Turkey Trot

The Thanksgiving race season officially begins at Deerfield County Park, as the Mt. Pleasant Striders host their yearly Turkey Trot. Festivities begin on Saturday, November 4, at 3 p.m., as runners will traverse the beautiful trails along the Chippewa River. The course is approximately 6K in length and is sure to challenge even the most adept athletes. For those not quite at the 6K level, the organizers are also offering a 5K race that will also take advantage of the scenery around Deerfield County Park.

Just because the race won’t be run on Thanksgiving doesn’t mean that there won’t be a feast afterwards. Organizers will have an open fire set up for grilling, and runners are encouraged to donate foods that they would like to have shared by all. The spirit of Thanksgiving and the camaraderie of athletes have made the Turkey Trot a success for 37 years already, and is sure to be evident on November 4.

The best part? The entry fee is just $6, and $5 for Mt. Pleasant Striders members. So if you’re looking for a smaller race, but one with a strong tradition and a fun atmosphere, the Turkey Trot in Mt. Pleasant may be the race for you. Check out the entry form for more information. Registration is available onsite.
